Deiden, a local Sartenejeño, that holds Corozal Bay Wildlife Sanctuary close to his heart. He has a keen interest in the ecosystem services it offers to nearby communities and is committed to preserving healthy ecosystems for future generations. In 2015, he began volunteering with SACD as a part-time Community Researcher. By March 2016, he was hired as a Project Coordinator for a GEF-SGP funded project aimed at enhancing the management of marine protected areas in the Northern Belize Coastal Complex. This region includes Corozal Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, Bacalar Chico National Park and Marine Reserve, Hol Chan Marine Reserve, and Caye Caulker Marine Reserve and Forest Reserve. Deiden’s dedication and numerical acumen led to a promotion to Finance Officer in November 2016. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting, he has enhanced his skills through formal training in financial management and NGO accounting. Deiden has established and oversees the finance and accounting system at SACD, recognized nationally for its exceptional project management in financial matters, monitoring, and reporting.
