Who We Are
The Sarteneja Alliance for Conservation and Development (SACD) is a Belizean conservation organization working to protect natural resources while supporting sustainable development and community well-being.
Our work brings together conservation, education, research, community engagement and sustainable development to help create a future where people and nature can thrive together.
Our Beginning
SACD began operating in 2007 with a focus on conservation and sustainable development in Northern Belize.
The organization grew from the recognition that protecting natural resources requires collaboration with the communities who depend on them.
Since then, SACD has continued developing partnerships and programs focused on conservation, education, research, community engagement and sustainable livelihoods.
Our History
From our beginnings in 2007 to the conservation work we continue today.
2007
SACD begins operating with a focus on conservation and sustainable development in Northern Belize.
2008
SACD becomes formally registered as a nonprofit organization and continues developing its conservation programs.
2012
SACD enters into a co-management agreement supporting the Corozal Bay Wildlife Sanctuary.
2024
SACD enters into a co-management agreement supporting Bacalar Chico National Park.
Conservation
Continuing work to conserve wildlife, habitats and marine ecosystems across Northern Belize.

Building partnerships and creating opportunities for communities to participate in conservation and sustainable development.
